CAMP LIKELY - SUMMER 2009

As each individual camp winds to a close, we always debrief with the staff. The debriefing includes the sharing of “highs and lows” for the previous camp. We would like to share with you some of these “highs and lows” for the summer of 2009.

Highs:

  • we had 7 camps this year, an increase of 3 camps
  • 229 campers attended, an increase of 93 campers
  • 53 campers made a first time decision for Jesus!!

These numbers summarize our summer statistically. Behind these numbers are many incredible stories. One of our staff members had shared that his goal for the week he would be staff was to see one person become a Christian. After staff meeting one day, this staff member stayed back to share that one of his campers had indeed asked Jesus into his heart!! The grin on his face was incredible!! What an opportunity for staff to see Jesus working through them!!

We had some electrical wires short-out and melt between the generator and the main part of camp. We were able to limp our system through to the next day when a parent was coming to visit who “just happened” to be an electrician!! He was able to patch up the wiring!!

God blessed us with a core group of young people who formed our leadership team for the summer. This group pulled together and worked with all of the other incredible staff to give the camp an amazing, flowing, energetic program. We are so thankful for the staff God provided this summer!! They did an incredible job!!!

Our low would be the vandalism that took place late summer. Most of the damage was to windows, which can be replaced. The insurance claim is currently being worked through and we’re praying that God will bring good out of a bad situation, and turn this “low” into a “high”.

We have some prayer items and financial concerns we would like you to join us in:

  1. We are so grateful for a good, safe summer!! Please pray that those who made decisions would connect with a local church or youth group.
  2. Our board is strongly feeling the need to have other churches and individuals to partner with us. Running a camp is a heavy responsibility!!
  3. Financially we are low in our donations and would ask that you consider this area.

If you would like to help us with one of the above requests our contact information is:
